Chhattisgarh, Puducherry abolish e-pass system for inter-state movement

In Chhattisgarh, now e-pass will not be mandatory for travel within or out of the state. The state government has issued an order stating that essentially e-pass for inter-state or intra-state movement has been abolished. However, to control the spread of corona infection, e-pass can be used voluntarily for the purpose of contact tracing, so that the record of travel history can be kept.

However, the guidelines regarding Quarantine of fourteen days for the persons coming to Chhattisgarh from other states will remain in force.

Meanwhile, the number of Corona positive cases in Chhattisgarh breached the 20 thousand mark.

The state reported 704 fresh COVID-19 cases yesterday, while seven infected people succumbed, taking the tally of confirmed cases in the state to



20,918.

According to the state health department, Chhattisgarh has now 7,790 active cases, as 12,931 people have been discharged after recovery, while 197 have died so far.

Similarly, the Puducherry administration has abolished the e-pass system as per the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to a notification of the Puducherry government, there is no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods.

No separate permission or approval, e-pass will be required for such movements as per the MHA order.

It may be noted that an e-pass system was introduced in all the states in the country following the outbreak of CoronaVirus pandemic, to contain infection of the virus.
