A three-member team will conduct a magisterial investigation into the death of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. He passed away after suffering a heart attack on Thursday at Banda Medical College. 63-year-old Ansari was a five-time former MLA from Mau Sadar seat and had been behind bars in UP and Punjab since 2005.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Banda has appointed Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, MP-MLA Court Banda, Garima Singh as the investigating officer in the case. After completion of the post-mortem, Mukhtar Ansari’s body was handed over



to his son, Umar Ansari and now it has been taken to Ghazipur for last rites. Post-mortem examination conducted by a panel of two doctors, which was video recorded.

After the death of Mukhtar Ansari Section 144 of CrPC have been imposed across Uttar Pradesh to maintain law & order situation. Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar said that additional police personnel as well as Central Reserve Police Force teams have also been deployed in Banda, Mau, Ghazipur and Varanasi districts.
