Chief Justice of India, Dr. Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud yesterday said that both doctors and lawyers share the common pursuit of combating inequality and injustice and upholding the dignity of each individual. Addressing the Academic Conclave of the Resident Doctors Association at AIIMS New Delhi,
Dr Chandrachud lauded the collective efforts of all stakeholders in providing affordable treatment at AIIMS, which has successfully withstood the tide of commercialization. He highlighted the importance of conscience in the medical profession,
expressing concern about the impending crisis of professional credibility.
Dr. Chandrachud stressed the need for ethics and conduct in both law and medicine. He underscored the pivotal interplay of the fields of law and medicine in administering justice pertaining to cases related to the queer community and medical termination of pregnancy. He further expressed concern regarding challenges in front of litigants and doctors due to the rising impact of technology and information overload.
