The Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) on Sunday sounded the bugle for elections to three civic bodies by issuing a notification for conducting polls to Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Achampet Nagar Panchayat.
Elections would be held on March 6 and counting of votes would be done on March 9. The last date for filing nominations and withdrawals is February 24 and 26, respectively.
As per the poll schedule, nominations can be filed from Monday. Scrutiny of nominations would be done on February 25 (Thursday) and on February 26, the names of the contesting candidates would be publicised. If necessary, a re-election would be

conducted on March 8.
The state government has already announced the reservation of wards in the three civic bodies. GWMC would have 58 wards, KMC  50 wards and  Achampet 20 wards. About 9 to 10 lakh voters would exercise their franchise in the three civic body elections.
The commission instructed the returning officers to issue supplementary roll on the day of notification as per the statutory provision. The time frame for elections to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) has been reduced with only four days given to file nomination papers (from the day of schedule), scrutiny and withdrawal of papers. Polling would be conducted nine days after the completion of withdrawal of nominations.
