CJI DY Chandrachud announces SC to come under National Judicial Data Grid

New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud yesterday announced that the Supreme Court of India will soon come under the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) platform which provides tracking of pendency of cases. He emphasized that the inclusion of data in the NJDG will establish "transparency and accountability within the realm of the judiciary." Details regarding pending civil and criminal cases will be available to view at the "click of a button", he added. 

The Chief Justice said, it is a unique platform that is developed by the NIC and in-house team of the Supreme Court. Until now, the platform has been collecting data only up to the level of high courts, and now the top court will be uploading cases to the platform in real time.

The National Judicial Data Grid is a database of orders,



judgments and case details of 18,735 District and Subordinate Courts and High Courts created as an online platform under the eCourts Project. With Chief Justice's announcement, the Supreme Court will also be included in this database.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the announcement of Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud wherein he has informed that the Supreme Court of India will come under the National Judicial Data Grid platform which provides tracking of pendency of cases. 

In a social media post, Modi said that such harnessing of technology will further transparency and enhance the justice delivery system in the country. He said, it is a laudatory step by the Supreme Court and Chief Justice of India Justice DY Chandrachud.
