Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has dedicated the Pattiseema lift irrigation project on River Godavari to the people of the state. Speaking after visiting the project at Pattisam village of Polavaram mandal in West Godavari yesterday, he said, the foundation for the project was laid on March 29, last year and was completed in record time.
Mr. Naidu said, the project will facilitate inter-linking of two rivers, Godavari and Krishna. He said, nearly nine tmc-ft of water including
4.5 tmc-ft of water from the Tadipudi lift scheme, was diverted to Krishna delta and crops worth about 2,500 crore rupees were saved.
He expressed confidence that the Polavaram irrigation project would also be completed at a faster pace providing water to every acre in the Godavari delta region for cultivation of crops in two to three years. He also said, the Krishna delta will be stabilised while Rayalaseema region will be brought under development by executing the Polavaram project.
