Kolkata: In West Bengal, a reshuffle in the State Cabinet has taken place yesterday. According to sources, the Chief Minister has kept the Finance Department with herself after the term of Dr. Amit Mitra as a Member of the Legislative Assembly expired.
Former Finance Minister Dr. Mitra has been appointed as the Principal Chief Adviser to the Chief Minister and Finance Department. The creation of a new post was approved in the State Cabinet Meeting held at the Assembly House yesterday.
Dr. Mitra will get the status of a Cabinet Minister. State Municipal Affairs and Urban Development
Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya have been given additional responsibilities as the Minister of State of the Finance Department.
Minister for Public Health Engineering Pulak Roy has been given additional charge of the Panchayat Department, replacing the late Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee while Minister for Water Resources Manas Bhuiyan has been given additional charge of the Consumer Affairs Department in place of Sadhan Pandey, following his prolonged illness. Ms. Shashi Panja has been given additional charge of the Self-Help Group and Self-Employment Department.
