West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to the people of the state not to venture out unnecessarily as chances of rain triggered by Cyclone Sitrang are high.

The IMD has issued an alert regarding Cyclone Sitrang'. There is a high chance of rain on October 25. There is an appeal to the people to avoid going out unnecessarily or to the sea areas, including the Sundarbans. Arrangements



have been made by the state govt: WB CM Mamata Banerjee.

Cyclonic Sitrang was about 380 km from Sagar Island and 520 km from Bangladesh’s Barisal and was to intensify further into a severe storm in the next 12 hrs, according to the IMD bulletin.

Sitrang is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rain with wind reaching the speed of 70 to 80 km by Monday evening and midnight.
