CM Naidu urges Modi-govt to introduce Rs.200 notes

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged the central government to introduce Rs 200 notes to ease the trouble that the common people are facing following the demonetisation of high value currency.

A majority of ATMs that were supposed to resume functioning to dispense cash from Friday morning remained shut in several parts of the state, causing inconvenience to the people who are struggling to provide basic necessities to their families.

According to reports, Naidu, who had hailed the Centre’s decision to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in a move to tackle the menace of black money in the country, on Monday said the public was a facing tough time fetching



change for the newly introduced Rs 2000 notes.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister was, in fact, the first politician to suggest the scrapping of the two high value notes to curb corruption. He had, in October, reiterated his demand for immediately abolishing currency notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations.

Politics has become a shelter for corrupt people and black money earners. Some people who are in politics are misusing the people’s mandate. I’m writing a letter to the Prime Minister today asking that Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes be abolished and total bank transactions be encouraged," he had said at a press conference in his new office at Velagapudi on October 12.
