In Kerala, with heavy rains relenting a bit, nearly 40 lakh children returned to their schools today after the mid-summer vacation. All arrangements are in place to welcome children back to school as the new academic year begins after two months of vacation.
Primary schools are decked out with a fresh coat of paint, colorful balloons, and festoons, with cartoon characters
adorning the walls. Over 2,44,000 children are being admitted to Class 1 this year across the state.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state-level Praveshanotsavam, the event to welcome students to the schools, at Elamakkara in Kochi this morning. Similar events will also take place at the district level.
