Kalaburagi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has asked to prepare an action plan by July 15 to utilize the budget allocation of Rs 5,000 crore for the Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad Karnataka) region. During a review meeting of the Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB), Siddaramaiah instructed that tenders for approved works should be issued immediately and emphasized the need for a thorough evaluation of the projects.

He stressed the importance of prioritizing complementary projects to improve the Human Development Index of Kalyana Karnataka. “Infrastructure development at hostels, Anganwadis, and residential schools should be prioritized. Available grants must be spent on essential areas such as roads, drinking water, irrigation, and other infrastructure,” Siddaramaiah stated. For the fiscal year 2023-24, a substantial grant of Rs 3,000 crore has been released to the KKRDB, with



Rs 2009.53 crore already spent, marking the highest expenditure since the board's inception, according to Chairman Ajay Singh.

Since its formation, the board has approved 35,724 projects, of which 26,418 have been completed. In 2023-24, out of 6,468 projects, 136 have been completed and 3,226 are in progress, while 3,106 are yet to commence. The Chief Minister suggested that the development of schools in the Kalyana Karnataka region be prioritized under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and called for the establishment of high schools, undergraduate, and graduate colleges. Ministers Dr. Sharanprakash Patil, Rahim Khan, Ishwar Khandre, Jameer Ahmed Khan, Sharanbasappa Darsanapura, NS Boseraju, Shivraj Tangadagi, D Sudhakar, KKRDB Chairman Dr. Ajay Singh and other senior government officials were present at the meeting.
