Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has reached out to a cancer patient by sanctioning her 3 lakh, on the spot, at Mentada in Vizianagaram on Friday.

The CM was returning after the foundation-laying ceremony for the Central Tribal University. Cancer patient Kannuru Sarswathi approached him and sought financial assistance as she has been suffering from cancer for the past five years.

She hailed from Billalavalasa village of Garividi mandal and her

parents had died of cancer. She was under treatment by availing the Arogyasri health scheme but had no income from any source. She was not eligible for a pension.

Moved by her plea, the chief minister sanctioned a payment of `3 lakh and asked district collector Nagalakshmi to immediately do the needful. Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana handed over the cheque to Saraswathi. She profusely thanked the CM for his quick response.
