Cold wave conditions continue in Punjab, Haryana,Uttar Pradesh,Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana. Adampur in Punjab recorded a low of 1.1 degrees Celsius as cold wave conditions continued unabated in the state and neighbouring Haryana yesterday.
In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest place with minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius, down five notches against normal limits. In Uttar Pradesh cold wave and fog is continued across the state, hitting western part badly where mercury is hovering several notches below the normal. Muzaffarnagar remained coldest place where temperature was recorded 1.6 degree Celsius
yesterday.
Cold intensified further in Odisha with the mercury plunging to 2.8 degree Celsius in the tourist destination of Daringibadi in Kandhamal district, making it the coldest place in the state yesterday. Normal life was thrown out of gear in parts of Telangana as cold wave conditions prevailed at various places in the state, officials said Monday.
Hyderabad and Peddapally experienced cold wave conditions.The cold wave conditions are attributed to winds blowing from northerly and north-easterly direction over Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The cold conditions forced people to stay indoors at many places.
