Cold wave grips north India

In Uttrakhand, normal life has been affected due to the prevailing cold wave conditions. As per reports, road, rail and air traffic has also been affected because of dense fog in the plains of the state.  

According to the MeT Department, cold conditions, along with moderate to dense fog are likely to persist in plains.

Cold wave continues in Kashmir region after the latest spell of rain and snowfall in the region last week.

The minimum temperature throughout the Valley continues to remain several notches below the freezing point. Srinagar recorded night temperature of minus 3.7 degree Celsius and maximum day temperature was recorded at 5.8 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather till Sunday in the region.

In Himachal Pradesh, the weather remained dry and cold as Manali, Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Keylong and Kalpa shivered at sub-zero temperatures, with the weatherman predicting heavy rain and snowfall in the next two-three days.

In Rajasthan, Sikar was the coldest place in the



state yesterday at 3.5 degrees Celsius. The weather office said cold conditions are expected to remain the same today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures dropped by several notches across Punjab and Haryana yesterday, with Chandigarh recording the coldest day of the season.

In Delhi, the maximum and minimum temperature is likely to hover around 19 degrees and 8 degree Celsius today.

Yesterday, the capital recorded the coldest day of the season with the temperature settling much below normal at 7 degrees Celsius. According to the MeT Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius, which is five notches below normal. 

Ladakh is witnessing a fresh spell of snowfall. Bad weather has affected flight operations in the region. Road traffic also remains affected.
 
The cold weather conditions continued unabated across Ladakh, with the temperature prevailing below freezing point even during day time.

The night temperature settled at minus 17. 9 Degree Celsius in Leh town.
