Congress impeachment notice against CJI wrong: Mamata Banerjee

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee has said, the Congress was wrong in giving an impeachment notice against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. 

The West Bengal Chief Minister told a Bengali news channel that the Congress wanted TMC to support the notice. She said, TMC did not support the move as it did not want to interfere in the judiciary.

President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu had, on Monday, rejected the notice by seven Opposition parties, led by the Congress, saying that the allegations were neither tenable nor admissible. 

He, yesterday, said his decision was in strict conformity with the provisions of the Constitution and the Judges Inquiry Act.
