Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi on Friday met with the families of those who lost their lives in the Hathras stampede that claimed 121 lives. After the meeting, Mr Gandhi stressed the importance of providing maximum compensation to the affected families, most of whom are economically disadvantaged. Urging Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to provide compensation wholeheartedly, Gandhi stressed the need for timely

support.

On the other hand, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the stampede, has submitted a 15-page report to Chief Minister Adityanath, detailing statements from approximately 100 people, including administrative officials and event attendees. The stampede occurred during a satsang on July 2, led by religious preacher Narayan Saakar Hari, also known as ‘Bhole Baba’ .
