Congress MLA Chirag Patel resigns as member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly

In Gujarat, the Congress MLA Chirag Patel submitted his resignation as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly yesterday. Patel who represented the Khambhat seat handed over his resignation to the state Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary in Gandhinagar on Tuesday. 

With this,



the strength of Congress MLAs in the 182-member assembly has come down to 16.

Patel who was the first-time MLA, had defeated BJP leader Mahesh Raval in Khambhat by a margin of nearly 3,700 votes in the assembly polls held last year.
