The Congress appointed senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi as the chairman of its law, human rights and Right to Information (RTI) department on Saturday.
Congress president Mallikajun Kharge has approved a proposal for the reconstitution of the party's law, human rights and RTI department with immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the party.
Other members of the panel include senior lawyers Salman Khurshid, Vivek Tankha, Harin Raval, Prashanto Sen, Devdatt Kamath, KTS Tulsi, and Vipul Maheshwari.
The executive panel has Muhammad Ali Khan as
its secretary. Other members of the executive panel include Aman Panwar, Omar Hoda, Eesha Bakshi, Arjun Sharma, Nishant Mandal, Amit Bhandari, Tarannum Cheema, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, Lalnunhlui Ralte, and Swati Draik.
Notably, Congress has also announced Abhishek Singhvi as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypolls in Telangana.
Following the announcement, Singhvi said in a post on X, "My sincere gratitude to the Congress President, Shri Kharge, to two former CPs, Sonia ji & Rahul ji, to Priyanka ji and to all senior leadership for the trust and faith reposed in me."
