Congress leaders on Wednesday created ruckus and staged walkout in Lok Sabha over the Income Tax (IT) raids on Karnataka energy minister DK Shivakumar's residence and Eagleton resort, where the 44 Gujarat Congress lawmakers are staying. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the raid was conducted out of political vendetta from BJP by keeping upcoming Rajya Sabha polls in Gujarat.
Dismissing Kharge's allegations, Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said, "IT raids on DK Shivakumar should be seen as an action against the economic offense, but not as a political game. Raid on
Karnataka minister is not releated to Rajya Sabha polls in Gujarat."
Congress leaders, who were not satisfied by Jaitley's response gathered in the well and shouted slogan against the government, and walked out of the house.Parliamentary affairs minister Ananth Kumar took on Gujarat lawmakers for staying away from the state, when it is badly affected by the flood. "It's a duty of every leader to stay in their respective constituency, when their people are in lurch," said Kumar, by clearing that raid on DK Shivakumar is an action against black money.
