In Rajasthan, Congress has won 961 wards whereas BJP registered victory at 737 wards in local body elections.
BSP has won 16 wards. A large number of independent candidates also won. Counting of votes for more than two thousand wards of 49 local bodies was held yesterday.
Reacting to the results, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the outcome reflects assent of the public for good governance and transparency of the state government.
Leader of the
Opposition in the state assembly, Gulab Chand Kataria of BJP said Congress benefited from its government in the polls.
Filing of nomination papers for the posts of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice-chairman of local bodies will start today.
The election for the Mayor and the Chairman will take place on 26th November. The election for the Deputy Mayor and Vice-Chairman will take place on 27th November.
