The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the current political situation. Addressing the media after the meeting, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that the CWC had a detailed discussion including on the recently concluded assembly elections. He mentioned that CWC has decided to constitute internal committees to look into the matters related to the electoral performance of the party and its organisational matters in the blocks and districts.
The party has also decided to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s presidency of Indian National Congress at Belagavi in December. The CWC also adopted a
resolution in which it has thanked the people of Jharkhand for the decisive mandate they have given to JMM, INC and other I.N.D.I.A. parties.
Earlier in his opening statement at the Congress Working Committee meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized need to immediately learn from the election results and correct all shortcomings at the organizational level. He also urged the party leaders to strictly follow discipline and remain united under all circumstances.
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, P Chidamabaram were among those who were present in the CWC meeting.
