The Government yesterday said the country had made consistent efforts to become Aatmanirbhar in nuclear power. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh said India has acquired comprehensive capabilities in nuclear and associated fuel cycle technologies. He said the present installed nuclear power capacity is set to increase from 8180 MegaWatt,



MW to 22480 MW by 2031-32 on progressive completion of projects under construction and accorded sanction.

Replying to another question, Dr Singh said in addition nine reactors with a total capacity of 7300 MW are under construction and commissioning and ten reactors with a capacity of 7000 MW are under pre-project activities.
