The Government yesterday said that the country’s domestic coal production increased by 11.65 percent in 2023-24. Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, in a written reply in Rajya Sabha yesterday, said the coal production in the country reached 997.26 million tonnes in 2023-24, compared to the previous year’s 893.19 million tonnes.

He said that the Government has initiated several steps to ramp up domestic coal production and eliminate non-essential imports of coal in the country.
