Srinagar, Aug 18: "Zuhr" (mid-day) prayers were offered on Tuesday in historic Jamia Masjid in the downtown Srinagar, which remained closed since March this year due to COVID-19 pandemic. 

The District Magistrate (DM), Srinagar, has recently announced reopening of religious places of all faiths from August 16. Though some religious places opened on August 16, the



management of the Jamia Masjid announced to open the grand mosque from Tuesday.

About 200 people, wearing masks, joined the mid-day prayers in the mosque. However, some people who had come without their faces covered were provided free masks at the main gate of worship place. Devotees have been asked to bring mats for offering prayers as all matting in the grand mosque have been removed.
