Due to a gradual spurt in the Covid 19 cases, especially in and around Bengaluru city, Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K Sudhakar has said that the government has banned all late-night parties that could turn out to be super-spreader later. He also stated that measures have been taken to restrict large gatherings at marriage ceremonies and other similar functions.
He also pointed out that the neighbouring states have been witnessing a spike in the Covid-19 cases. Hence he said that precautions are taken to contain the spread of the virus both in Bengaluru and other parts of the
state.
Karnataka reported 760 new Covid cases, 331 recoveries and six deaths yesterday. The state also reported its first South African variant of Coronavirus in a person who returned to Shivamogga from Dubai recently. The state breached the 10 lakh mark in vaccination. Till yesterday 11,34,295 persons were inoculated in the state against covid virus.
Out of which 1,88,764 are those above the age of 60 receiving the first dose. Due to Shivaratri today, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has deputed its marshals outside Shiva temples to regulate the crowd.
