Maharashtra government has taken a big decision on Saturday of reducing the COVID-19 swab testing cost by almost 50 per cent in the private testing lab.
Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said on the basis of committee suggestions the government has decided to reduce the cost of COVID-19 testing that will help people in a large way. “The home service facility testing cost has been brought down from Rs 5200 to Rs 4500 while cost of testing at lab has been cut
down from Rs 4500 to Rs 2200. This decision will help many people to take the COVID-19 test at a reasonable rate in Maharashtra. People will be able to save their money as well,” Tope said.
“Maharashtra will be the first to conduct the COVID-19 tests in such fair rate,” claimed Tope adding that while arriving at the rates, the expert's committee had studied various cost as equipment used during a test like PPE, cost of the machine, manpower -- labour cost etc.
