Senior CPI(M) leader KK Ragesh has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The Rajya Sabha MP from Kerala who has been representing the Left in the ongoing farmers' agitation, made the announcement in a Facebook post on Sunday.
In his Facebook post, KK Ragesh said he was tested regularly for Covid-19 and the results always came back negative. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader said his samples were collected for testing before the Republic Day 'Tractor Parade'
on January 26 and a boycott-Parliament protest on January 29.
Ragesh experienced severe fever and other symptoms of Covid-19 on Saturday and decided to get himself tested. Once the results came back positive, the CPI(M) Rajya Sabha MP was admitted to the privately-owned Medanta Hospital in Haryana's Gurugram for treatment.
In his post, KK Ragesh has appealed to everyone who came in contact with him to remain alert and get tested for coronavirus if the need arises.
