Central Public Works Department, CPWD will generate around 42 Mega Watt of solar power across the country. Urban development Ministry in a release said, it will replace energy-inefficient electrical fittings in 20 government buildings in Delhi by September this year and it will save around 115 crore rupees per year on power costs.

Secretary Madhusudhan Prasad has directed CPWD and Solar Energy Corporation of India to ensure net metering at all the 200 buildings in the country to ensure proper monitoring of total energy consumption by government buildings. In Delhi, a total of 16 thousand 613 LED lamps have so far been installed in 261 of 268 government bungalows and 408 of 546 flats of MPs.
