Cremation of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa to take place in Karnataka today

The mortal remains of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad, who passed away in New Delhi Thursday after being pulled out alive from an avalanche in Siachen, reached Hubli in Karnataka Thursday night. The funeral of the Siachen brave heart will be held in his native village in Betadur today afternoon. 

Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Cholan told



reporters that the fallen solider would be given a state funeral. The district administration has also made preparations for people to pay their final respects to Koppad at the Nehru Stadium in Hubballi from 7 am onwards and later at Betadur Government High School after 11.30 am. The body of Koppad will be taken in a procession from Hubli to his native village.
