Vijayawada: AP chief secretary (CS) K.S. Jawahar Reddy on Wednesday met top officials of the state government on follow up action taken in Andhra Pradesh in the wake of 3rd National Chief Secretaries meeting held in Delhi from December 27 to December 29. The CS asked officials to submit action taken reports (ATRs) on what they have done on Delhi meeting’s suggestions related to departments of land, property, electricity, drinking water, medical and health, and education departments. The ATRs will be put up before the NITI Aayog’s Governing Council meeting when it meets next in July.
Jawahar Reddy pointed out that 117 actionable points need to be taken up by five departments. He said action has already been taken on 43 points, actions have been initiated on 60 points, action is still to be taken on 17 points, and answers are to be received from the respective departments on seven points. The chief secretary ordered secretaries of respective departments to take
appropriate measures on 28 issues related to IT and artificial intelligence. He wanted the education department to include within the curriculum a chapter on drinking water, so that students from an early age become aware of the need to conserve and save drinking water.
Jawahar Reddy directed officials to utilise solar power-induced protected fresh water supply schemes for needy villages during the day. On tuberculosis, the CS ordered officials of the Medical and Health department to formulate appropriate action plans to eradicate the disease completely. At the meeting, secretary (Planning) Girija Shankar explained measures taken by the respective departments through a PowerPoint presentation. Officers who attended the meeting included special principal secretaries K. Vijayanand, M.T. Krishna Babu, Gopala Krishna Dwivedi and S.S. Rawat, principal secretary (Water Resources) Shasibhushan Kumar, and IT secretary K. Shasidhar.
