A fresh violence erupted in Bihar Sharif on Saturday evening after two groups reportedly opened fire on each other, forcing authorities to impose a curfew in the city. Three people suffered serious injuries during the clash.
The announcement of imposing a curfew came a day after Section 144 was imposed in the Paharpura area of Bihar Sharif after communal tensions erupted in the city on Friday during Ram Navami festivities.
Various campaigns are being carried out across the city asking people to remain inside their
homes.
The police stated that there were multiple firings in Paharpura, Kashitkia, and Sohsarai due to which the entire city was converted into a police cantonment.
Bihar's Rapid Action Force has been deployed in the Bihar Sharif district.
The state police have so far arrested 45 people in connection with communal riots at Sasaram and Bihar Sharif that erupted during the Ram Navami festivities. Vehicles, houses and shops were torched and several people injured in communal flare-ups reported in both towns on Friday.
