The Cyclonic Storm Fani over Bay of Bengal is expected to hit the Odisha coast on Friday between 8 am and 10 am. Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi said that the landfall will continue up to 12 noon.
Currently, the impending cyclonic storm Fani is about 285 kilometres south-southwest off Puri coast and 170 kilometres east-southeast off Vishakhapatnam. Odisha between Gopalpur and Chandbali, around Puri during forenoon today, with maximum sustained wind speed of 170-180 kmph gusting to 200 kmph.
The impact of Fani in Odisha will remain for nearly 12 hours after landfall. Met office also predicts post-landfall effect, when ‘Fani’ will be moving over the coastal districts of Jagatsinghpur and Balasore, before entering West Bengal, the wind speed in parts of Cuttack and Jajpur districts will see equally squally winds reaching up to 100 km per hour.
