Visakhapatnam: The very severe cyclonic Storm, Hamoon, over northwest and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal and Cyclone Teja in the Arabian Sea have weakened the northeast monsoon in Andhra Pradesh.
Only light to moderate rains occurred in Tamil Naidu and nearby areas.
Hamoon moved east-northeast wards with a speed of 23 kmph on Tuesday and lay centered over the same region, about 330 km east of Paradip (Odisha), 290 km
east-southeast of Digha (West Bengal), 190 km south of Khepupara (Bangladesh) and 305 km southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh).
It is likely to weaken into a severe cyclonic storm, further weaken while moving northeastward and cross the Bangladesh coast close to the south of Chittagong by the early hours of October 25 with wind speed of 80 to 90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph, the weather bureau reported.
