Cyclonic Storm, Maarutha, lay centred over east central Bay of Bengal, about 735 km East-Southeast of Paradip, which may trigger rains or thundershowers at few places in Odisha, MeT department said.

The MeT office has advised hoisting Distant Warning Signal Number Two (DW-II) at Paradip and Gopalpur ports.The cyclonic storm Maarutha over Bay of Bengal further moved northeastwards and crossed Myanmar coast yesterday night.

Meterological office, the system is likely to continue to move northeastwards and weaken further into a depression during next 12 hours.

Heavy winds due to Cyclonic effect inflicted damage at Bhubaneswar airport yesterday night. However, no person was injured in these incidents.As the cyclonic storm moved away from the Andaman coast, the ship services to Neil and Havelock islands, which had been stopped in view of the situation, have been restored this morning.
