Cyclone Maha crosses Lakshadweep

The Cyclone Maha in the Arabian Sea has crossed Lakshadweep. India Meteorology Department said, the system in the Arabian Sea is intensifying into a severe cyclonic storm, and lays centred at 250 km north-northeast of Kavaratti in the Islands Territory.

It said heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of the Lakshadweep, and light to moderate rain in some places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next twenty-four hours. Total suspension of fishing has been suggested over the South East Arabian Sea and along the Kerala and



Karnataka coast today and the East Central Arabian Sea till Monday.

India Meteorology Department officials in Chennai have said, there are indications over the formation of another low-pressure area in the North Andaman Sea by Monday, that may start moving towards the coast of mainland India. Tamil Nadu has received 26 per cent more rain so far due to the prevailing North East Monsoon. Barring eight districts, all others have got more rainfall than the long term average for the period.
