At least six people in West Bengal and 10 in Bangladesh have been reported dead due to Cyclone Remal.
Heavy rains and wind gushed the entire region as the Cyclone Remal made landfall on Sunday. “Packing speeds of up to 135 kph (84 mph), it crossed the area around Bangladesh’s southern port of Mongla and the adjoining Sagar Islands in India’s West Bengal late
on Sunday, weather officials said, making landfall at about 9 p.m. (1530 GMT) before weakening on Monday morning,” the report said.
Bangladeshi officials confirmed the death of ten people, two of whom were killed while trying to run to a cyclone shelter. “The people don’t want to leave their houses and livestock until its too late,” an official told Reuters.
