The very severe cyclonic storm Yaas started the process of landfall between Dhamra and Baleshwar in Odisa around 9 this morning.
 
The special relief commissioner of Odisha Pradip Kumar Jena said that the entire process of landfall will take about 3 to 4 hours to complete. 
 
He said, as the landfall process



advances, more rainfall and strong winds will be witnessed in north Odisha districts. 
 
Heavy to very heavy and extremely heavy rainfall has already been recorded at quite a few places to the tune of more than 300 millimetres. 
 
More than five lakh eighty thousand people have been evacuated to safe shelters.
