The death toll in the Bhiwandi building collapse mounted to six today. The deceased include four men, one woman and a child. Officials said relief and rescue operations are continuing since last more than 24 hours and are expected to continue atleast tonight. Four teams of NDRF along with the canine squad are working on the site for rescue and relief operations. So far, 10 people have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police said, a case of culpable homicide has been registered against a builder Indrapal Patil, who has been held primarily responsible for the mishap. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath
Shinde had earlier visited the site and the injured at the hospital and announced Rs 5 lakh as compensation for next of the keen of the deceased and free treatment for the injured.
He said, any questions related to the redevelopment will be proposed and decided soon. CM said he has given instructions to the collector and concerned officers that they must survey those buildings which are dangerous and can collapse anytime during the monsoon.
