In Bihar, the death toll has climbed to 25 in a hooch tragedy in the Siwan and Saran districts. Prohibition and Excise Minister Ratnesh Sada said that 20 people succumbed to death in Siwan, whereas five people died in Saran district in the last 24 hours after consuming suspected spurious liquor. All the deceased were residents of different villages in the Bhagwanpur Haat and Mashrakh police station areas.
A Special Investigation Team has been constituted to investigate the incident. The Minister said that 22 people fell ill, and three have lost their vision, they are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. The Minister
said that the relatives of those who lost their lives will receive compensation according to Prohibition Law.
Police teams have reached the affected areas, and they are investigating the matter. A team from the Prohibition and Excise Department is also visiting the villages from where the residents have consumed the suspected spurious liquor.
