In Andhra Pradesh, the death toll has reached 17 in yesterday’s reactor explosion at Essentia Pharma Company in Achyutapuram SEZ of Anakapalli district.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that a high-level investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the accident, with strict action to be taken against the factory management if found negligent.
He held a teleconference with district officials, industries department, health department officials, district public representatives, and ministers last night to discuss the aftermath of the tragic accident.
The CM was briefed on the status of the injured and the treatment being administered. During the meeting, officials provided preliminary details regarding the potential causes of the accident, including human error in plant management and structural defects in the plant’s construction.
They also expressed concern over the inadequate response from the pharma company’s management following the incident. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of saving lives and instructed that doctors from all departments be made available to provide the best possible care to the victims.
He also suggested the use of air ambulances to transport critically injured individuals to advanced medical facilities in Visakhapatnam or
Hyderabad if necessary.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and assured that the government will take full responsibility for supporting every victim.
Mr. Naidu is scheduled to visit Achyutapuram today, where he will meet with the families of the deceased and those injured in the accident. He will also inspect the accident site to assess the situation.
