Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, who walked out of Tihar jail on Friday evening after 17 months, visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence to meet his family members.
After being released from Tihar jail on bail in the Delhi liquor policy case, the former Deputy Chief Minister reached Kejriwal's home to meet the latter's wife Sunita Kejriwal, his parents and children.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Manish Sisodia, saying his long incarceration without trial had deprived him of the right to speedy justice. Notably, Arvind Kejriwal is still lodged in Tihar jail in connection with the same case.
The emotional encounter moved Sunita Kejriwal to tears as she met Manish Sisodia, who shares a close bond with the Delhi Chief
Minister and his family.
Sisodia, who was accompanied by many party leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, also took blessings from Arvind Kejriwal's parents.
Soon after his release, Sisodia said he got bail due to the power of the Constitution and democracy, and this same power will ensure the release of Arvind Kejriwal.
"I feel indebted to Baba Saheb Ambedkar after this order. We have brought this legal battle to its logical end through the Constitution. I thank you all for being with me," he said.
Joyous party supporters and workers picked Sisodia on their shoulders and raised "zindabad" slogans. They also rooted for AAP supremo with slogans like "jail ke taale tootege, Kejriwal ji chhootenge".
