New Delhi: Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued an order banning all cultural events and gatherings for Christmas and New Year celebrations in the national capital in view of rising cases of new Covid variant- Omicron. 

In its order, DDMA has asked all the District Magistrates and Deputy Commissioners of Police to ensure that no cultural events and congregations take place during Christmas and New Year. It has asked



the District Magistrates to conduct survey of the entire area falling in their jurisdiction and identify those pockets, colonies, and markets which have potential of becoming super- spreader or hotspots of Coivd-19 virus and Omicron. It has called for taking concerted action in these areas as per the protocol like Test, Track and Treat, containment measures, and enforcement of Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
