The ongoing lockdown in Delhi has been extended by another week owing to the surge in the Covid-19 cases and the unabated severity of the virus. The curbs imposed last week in Delhi will now continue till May 3. Before the extension, the lockdown was scheduled to end at 5 am on April 26.

Addressing a virtual press conference, Arvind Kejriwal said, "The virus continues to wreak havoc in Delhi. We had imposed a 6-day lockdown in Delhi. The lockdown is being extended to next Monday till

5 am. While the positivity rate has reduced, Delhi has been seeing an acute shortage of medical oxygen."

Arvind Kejriwal said the onslaught of coronavirus has not subsided even as the government had imposed six days lockdown as a last weapon in its arsenal.

"Everybody voted for the extension of lockdown. The positivity rate reached up to 36-37 percent in the past few days although it has slightly dipped now. It is around 29 percent today," Arvind Kejriwal said.
