Delhi government has decided to slash fares of DTC and cluster buses by 75 per cent from 1st of next month to encourage people to shun their private vehicles and use public transport extensively to bring down vehicular pollution.
Delhi Transport Minister Satyendar Jain has said, the decision to slash the fares has been taken and the Cabinet is expected
to give a formal go ahead to the move. He said, Delhi government is also plannig to make DTC bus travel free for students up to the age of 21-years.
Mr Jain said, government is also planning to reduce the rate of monthly bus pass from 800 rupees to 250 rupees for non-AC buses and from one thousand rupees to 250 rupees for AC buses.
