Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal gave approval to hike minimum wages of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers. Delhi government had recently sent wage hike proposal to the Lieutenant Governor. Government had approved a 37 per cent increase in the minimum wages for workers.
Addressing Media in New Delhi today, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said hike in wages is the first step towards making life easy for the poor.Mr
Kejriwal said nearly 50 lakh families will be benefited. He said hike to be implemented from Monday.
Minimum wages for unskilled workers have been increased from 9,724 to 13,350 rupees per month.For semi-skilled workers, wages have been hiked from 10,764 rupees to 14,698. In the skilled category, wages will be from 11,830 to 16,182 rupees and graduates and above category, wages will be 17,604 rupees per month.
