New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena today chaired a high-level meeting to review and take stock of the preparations in the National Capital in the run-up to the G-20 Summit. He said, the G-20 Summit is an unprecedented opportunity for Delhi to showcase itself to the world. Mr. Saxena emphasized that this milestone should be utilized by Delhi to emerge as a city, which is forever clean and forever in celebration.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor said, he had personally undertaken many a step like ensuring the beautification of the stretch of Road from Indira Gandhi International Airport Road to Dhaula Kuan over the last six months.
Mr. Saxena stressed on the need for a complete makeover and refurbishing of the city, which will host eight events, beginning 1st of March 2023 when the G-20 Foreign Ministers
will meet in the city. Other events to be hosted by Delhi include the Parliament-20 Summit on the 5th to the 6th of June, the 4th Sherpa Meeting on the 3rd to the 6th of September, the 4th Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting on the 5th and 6th of September 2023.
He pointed out that there were just 108 days left to the first event in March and only 250 days left to the G-20 Summit in September 2023. Mr. Saxena called for seamless coordination between various implementing agencies and exhorted all to work as a team.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia described the forthcoming Summit and the related events as a big opportunity for the city and also a massive responsibility for the Government to ensure Delhi’s success as a host city.
