Delhi Police has arrested two accused including a director and a doctor in a children’s hospital fire incident. District Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Chaudhary said that six newborns were killed and several others were injured in the massive fire that broke out yesterday late last night in a children’s hospital in Vivek Vihar area of Delhi.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has asked Delhi Chief Secretary to institute an inquiry into the tragic incidents. Mr. Saxena also directed the
Commissioner of Police to ensure all necessary measures are taken. Delhi government has also ordered a Magisterial Enquiry into the incident. Shahdara District Magistrate and District Disaster Management Authority will inquire about the fire tragedy. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have expressed grief over the killing of infants in the fire tragedy. Mr. Saxena affirmed that those responsible will be brought to book.
