Delhi: Under a special drive conducted by the Delhi Traffic police more than 900 people have been issued fines for using pressure horns and modified silences in the last five days.
On Saturday, August 20, the traffic police took to Twitter to inform the public that it is launching a special drive to penalise vehicle owners who use pressure horns and modified silencers.
Available data shows that as many as 583 people were issued challans for using pressure horns while 354 challans were issued in the five-day period from Saturday to Wednesday.
According to officials, so far, action
has been taken against 3,502 people this year in a drive against noise pollution.
Since January 1 this year, as many as 1,331 people have been issued
challans for using pressure horns and 2,009 for modified silencers, 113 for playing music and 49 for honking in no-horn zones, the data showed.
"We will interview doctors and ask them about the ill effects of noise pollution. We will air the interview to educate people so that they stop using modified silencers and pressure horns," another officer had said.
These measures have been taken to curb noise pollution in the city.
