A total of around 5.7
crore rupees in form of old 500 and 1000 rupee notes were seized yesterday by
police, from Delhi and Haryana.Delhi Police seized over 3.5 crore rupees in
high value demonetised currency notes from three persons in Delhi's Kashmiri
Gate area last evening. The Police special staff of north district detained
them after it received a tip-off about three men carrying 3.68 crore rupees.
Prima facie, it has
been revealed that the three men allegedly used to charge 15-20 percent
commission
for depositing black money in different bank accounts. Delhi Police
has passed on the information to Income Tax department.
In another incident yesterday, Haryana police recovered old notes worth around 2 crore and 22 lakhs from two cars at Hodal in Palwal district during checking of vehicles. The drivers of the cars fled away after seeing the police. The discontinued notes have been handed over to Income Tax department. The registered owners of the vehicles have been called for interrogation.
