New Delhi: The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining areas on Monday held an urgent review meeting in view of the sudden increase in Delhi's Air Quality Index. Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index has reached to severe category. During the meeting, they decided to deploy inspection teams in adequate numbers to ensure strict implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
State government representatives, Chairpersons, and Member Secretaries of NCR
Pollution Control Boards were impressed upon the need to implement the provisions of GRAP in the field with greater vigour to prevent further deterioration of air quality.
During the meeting, they assured that they will review the implementation of GRAP and further intensify the pollution control and mitigating measures including the prevention of open burning. GRAP is a set of emergency measures taken to reduce air pollution.
